Amelia Earhart was born in Atchison, Kansas on July 24, 1897. While growing up, she was a real tomboy and very daring. She would climb trees with the boys, ride sleds rightfully fast, hunt with a .22 rifle, and other types of things that little girls didnt do in the early 1900s. It was in that plane that Amelia set the womans pinnacle record when she flew at 14,000 feet. In 1928, when she was 31 years old, she was asked by two American pilots to be a passenger on a transatlantic flight, making her the first woman to amaze the Atlantic Ocean in an airplane.
